Microsoft is bringing Google Photos-like AI features to the Photos app in Windows 11. The tech giant is testing a new feature that uses AI magic to blur, remove or replace backgrounds and save images in .png format. New AI features are rolling out to users who subscribe to the Windows Insider Canary channel.

Microsoft’s background removal tool in Photos is similar to the removal tool in the Paint app. It harnesses the power of artificial intelligence (AI) to detect human or animal objects, bodies or faces in the foreground.

You can access the new AI feature by opening a photo, clicking the Edit icon, and tapping the Background Removal icon. It then allows you to choose between three options - Blur, Delete, and Replace. You can also control the strength of the blur tool and change the brush size to easily blur parts of your image.
