Apple Vision Pro batteries come in three models

Apple Vision Pro software update support information released on Thursday revealed that the headset will have three battery models. In this update, the Vision Pro battery pack models are detailed so that the backend can accurately identify which version of firmware is required for a specific hardware combination.

The Apple Vision Pro battery model is A2781. Nonetheless, this firmware is also referenced based on the two Vision Pro battery models, A2988 and A2697.

We don’t yet know what this means. Additional models may reference batteries that need to be manufactured to standards in other countries. At the same time, three models may mean three different battery capacities.

At WWDC 2023, Apple announced that the battery of the Apple Vision Pro headset cannot be easily removed. Apple Vision Pro charges and gets power directly from the USB-C port on the battery.
