The competition in the intelligent office track is becoming increasingly fierce.
On May 16, Kingsoft Office officially demonstrated its WPS AI capabilities. According to reports, similar to the capabilities of Microsoft Copilot, WPS AI connects large models to daily office components such as tables, text, PPT, and PDF. Based on reading comprehension, question and answer, and human-computer interaction, it has the ability to generate PPT presentations with one click and automatically generate Charts and reports, scanning and reading and refining key points.
Subverting the traditional office model, various collaborative office systems are making efforts to become intelligent. A month ago, DingTalk announced access to the Tongyi Qianwen large model, which is similar to Microsoft Copilot's positioning. Users can invoke AI anytime and anywhere to polish copywriting, summarize minutes, organize information and other functions. In Evernote, the commercially available Impression AI provides users with the ability to automatically generate corresponding content such as outlines, press releases, event plans, etc. based on templates. There is also Feishu’s “My AI”, which has not yet demonstrated its capabilities to the public. It is understood that this AI assistant will also have functions such as arranging meetings, sending emails, and searching for information.
Although various companies have similar capabilities in collaborative office software, many industry insiders believe that in the next 3-5 years, AIGC technology will continue to upgrade, which will drive the competition of leading products to focus on product differentiation. The previously released "2023 China Collaborative Office Industry Research Report" predicts that the collaborative office market will exceed 70 billion yuan this year, and manufacturers will focus more on product polishing and functional refinement.
According to Kingsoft Office CEO Zhang Qingyuan, the wave of AI technology will subvert the software industry, and fully embracing AI to transform advantageous products will be the core strategy for the office track in the next few years. DingTalk President Ye Jun also said in an interview that the capabilities of intelligent office products are similar in the general field, and the main differences are the company's flexibility and understanding of the market.
However, iResearch predicts that as the market leader effect becomes more and more significant, the track has entered a mature stage, and the growth rate has slowed from 43.5% in 2020 to 17% in 2022, and will decline by 2025. to 15.2%. Once the technical performance of AI meets user expectations and meets market needs, it will become a new starting point for enterprises to find the second growth curve, setting off a greater wave of applications.
In this regard, Pan Helin, co-director and researcher of the Digital Economy and Financial Innovation Research Center of the International Business School of Zhejiang University, analyzed that, for example, DingTalk’s main advantage is on the B side, the basis of Enterprise WeChat is on the C side, and Feishu has C End users; therefore, DingTalk’s advantage lies in its richer B-side functions, while Feishu is still in the ecological construction period. Zhang Chenkai, executive director of CIC Consulting, believes that for players in the office track, AIGC has its own monetization channels and users show willingness to pay, which can open up more commercial imagination space.
