Microsoft launches Windows 365 to business customers. Windows 365 moves the Windows experience to the cloud so employee-specific content, including files, settings, or apps, can be streamed to local devices.
Windows 365 is compatible with most devices with an Internet connection, including Windows PCs, Mac OS devices, and iOS and Android mobile devices.
This service is only available to business and enterprise customers. Pricing for the Basic business plan starts at $31 per user per month for a virtual system with 2 vCPUs, 4 GB RAM, and 128 GB storage. Outbound data volume is limited, and Azure bandwidth pricing applies to data transfers above the 20 GB, 40 GB, or 70 GB limit based on the plan selected.
At its Hybrid Work event, Microsoft unveiled improvements to Windows 365. "New options" were introduced that "combine cloud computing with the familiarity of a PC to provide a new experience."
Windows 365 BootAllows users to boot directly to Windows 365 Cloud PC when the system starts. The feature appears to be limited to Windows 11 devices. The device loads the Windows sign-in experience via Windows Hello and the cloud PC environment from there.
This makes Windows 365 a better solution for those temporary or frontline workers I mentioned, where shared devices and bring-your-own-device (BYOD) scenarios are common. Windows 365 Cloud PC lets different users log in directly using their personal and secure credentials.
Windows 365 OfflineProvides offline access to Windows 365 when not connected to the Internet.
We're also working on delivering Windows 365 Offline, so you can work in Windows 365 even when you're disconnected. Once the connection is restored, Windows 365 Cloud PC automatically resynchronizes with Windows 365 services without data loss, so user experience and workflows are durable.
Azure AD Join support will be available in public preview to Windows 365 Enterprise customers in May 2022.
