According to reports, in the nanometer "water storage" membrane reactor constructed by Professor Liu Xiaohao's team, the structure of the catalyst is similar to a capsule, with dispersed ceria carriers and double palladium catalysts encapsulated inside. The shell of this capsule is highly selectively designed, and after hydrophobic modification, it can ensure that the water generated inside is enriched, and the generated ethanol can escape smoothly. The presence of water can stabilize the double palladium active site, thereby achieving efficient and stable conversion of carbon dioxide into ethanol under mild conditions (3MPa, 240°C). It is worth mentioning that the innovative dual-palladium active site has a unique geometry and electronic structure, which can realize the directional hydrogenation of carbon dioxide to produce a single high-value product, ethanol.
