'Apple education purchases now require Unidays verification'
The Apple Education Store online store has been revamped to require verification of student or staff education status via Unidays.
Apple has quietly changed how the Apple Education store works, with students, teachers and other educators now required to verify their status before ordering. For the United States and countries including the United Kingdom and France, confirmation of educational status must now be made through the Unidays service.
Unidays is a free service that manages various discounts on products and services of various companies for students and educational users. Originally founded in the United Kingdom, it targets what is known in that country as sixth graders—the equivalent of a high school senior—and above.
Apple’s Education Store limits it to “current and newly accepted college students,” but also adds “faculty and staff at all levels.”
It’s unclear when Apple will make the change, but Unidays verification won’t be required until November 2021.
Apple's discounts for education users vary and sometimes include additional perks, such as free AirPods with a recent Mac or iPad purchase.
