Xfce's Xfwm4 using Wlroots sees Wayland port

Developer "adlo" today announced work on porting Xfce's Xfwm4 window manager code to Wayland. This new "Xfway" compositor is being developed using the wlroots library, which is used in smaller Wayland is becoming more and more common among synthesizers.

A wlroots-based port of Xfce xfwm4 is in development and making good progress, but has known limitations. There is feature regression compared to alternative libweston-based ports.

The release engineering page states, "It is currently unclear which Xfce version will target the full Xfce Wayland conversion (or if such a conversion will occur)."
