How to check when a folder was created in LinuxMethod: 1. Use the "stat file path" command to obtain the inode number of the file; 2. Use "df -h" to obtain the disk path where the file is located; 3. Based on the obtained file inode number and disk path, Use the "debugfs -R 'stat
' disk path" command to get the file creation time. 号>

How to check when a folder was created in Linux
1. Introduction
Can files in Linux be found? The creation time depends on the file system type. In the early file systems before ext4 (ext, ext2, ext3), the metadata of the file will not record the creation time of the file. It will only record the access time, modification time, change time (status Change time). The basic information of a typical file is as follows:
[root@bugwz ~]# stat test.file File: ‘test.file' Size: 2 Blocks: 8 IO Block: 4096 regular file Device: 807h/2055d Inode: 5255117 Links: 1 Access: (0755/-rwxr-xr-x) Uid: ( 0/ root) Gid: ( 0/ root) Access: 2019-12-12 19:11:33.175841399 +0800 Modify: 2019-12-12 19:11:37.564970487 +0800 Change: 2019-12-12 19:11:43.079132663 +0800 Birth: -
Access: access time, the last access time of file data (for example: reading file content);
Modify: modification time, file data Last Modified. (For example: modify the file content);
Change: status change time, this is easily confused with Modify time, the time when the file attributes (permissions, size, etc.) change;
2. Practice
2.1. Get the creation time of the file
Get the file inode number, as shown below, the inode number is: 5255117;
[root@bugwz data]# stat /data/test.file File: ‘/data/test.file' Size: 2 Blocks: 8 IO Block: 4096 regular file Device: 807h/2055d Inode: 5255117 Links: 1 Access: (0755/-rwxr-xr-x) Uid: ( 0/ root) Gid: ( 0/ root) Access: 2019-12-12 19:11:33.175841399 +0800 Modify: 2019-12-12 19:11:37.564970487 +0800 Change: 2019-12-12 19:11:43.079132663 +0800 Birth: -
Find the disk path where the file is located, as shown below. The disk path obtained is: /dev/sda7
[root@bugwz data]# df -h Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on /dev/sda3 3.9G 2.5G 1.2G 70% / devtmpfs 16G 0 16G 0% /dev tmpfs 16G 0 16G 0% /dev/shm tmpfs 16G 1.7G 14G 11% /run tmpfs 16G 0 16G 0% /sys/fs/cgroup /dev/sda1 12G 11G 787M 94% /usr /dev/sda5 7.8G 4.2G 3.2G 57% /tmp /dev/sda7 235G 180G 44G 81% /data /dev/sda6 7.8G 2.1G 5.3G 29% /var
Use debugfs to check the creation time of the file, and find that the creation time crtime is: Thu Dec 12 19:05:23 2019
[root@bugwz data1]# debugfs -R 'stat <5255117>' /dev/sda7 debugfs 1.42.9 (28-Dec-2013) Inode: 5255117 Type: regular Mode: 0755 Flags: 0x80000 Generation: 758605841 Version: 0x00000000:00000001 User: 0 Group: 0 Size: 2 File ACL: 0 Directory ACL: 0 Links: 1 Blockcount: 8 Fragment: Address: 0 Number: 0 Size: 0 ctime: 0x5df2206f:12dddfdc -- Thu Dec 12 19:11:43 2019 atime: 0x5df22065:29ec81dc -- Thu Dec 12 19:11:33 2019 mtime: 0x5df22069:86b30fdc -- Thu Dec 12 19:11:37 2019 crtime: 0x5df21ef3:d586ca44 -- Thu Dec 12 19:05:23 2019 Size of extra inode fields: 28 EXTENTS: (0):16949121

Select the option with (recoverymode); 3. Select the operation in the recovery mode menu, such as fsck or root. Recovery mode allows you to start the system in single-user mode, perform file system checks and repairs, edit configuration files, and other operations to help solve system problems.
Linux's Essential Components: Explained for BeginnersApr 17, 2025 am 12:08 AMThe core components of Linux include the kernel, file system, shell and common tools. 1. The kernel manages hardware resources and provides basic services. 2. The file system organizes and stores data. 3. Shell is the interface for users to interact with the system. 4. Common tools help complete daily tasks.
Linux: A Look at Its Fundamental StructureApr 16, 2025 am 12:01 AMThe basic structure of Linux includes the kernel, file system, and shell. 1) Kernel management hardware resources and use uname-r to view the version. 2) The EXT4 file system supports large files and logs and is created using mkfs.ext4. 3) Shell provides command line interaction such as Bash, and lists files using ls-l.
Linux Operations: System Administration and MaintenanceApr 15, 2025 am 12:10 AMThe key steps in Linux system management and maintenance include: 1) Master the basic knowledge, such as file system structure and user management; 2) Carry out system monitoring and resource management, use top, htop and other tools; 3) Use system logs to troubleshoot, use journalctl and other tools; 4) Write automated scripts and task scheduling, use cron tools; 5) implement security management and protection, configure firewalls through iptables; 6) Carry out performance optimization and best practices, adjust kernel parameters and develop good habits.
Understanding Linux's Maintenance Mode: The EssentialsApr 14, 2025 am 12:04 AMLinux maintenance mode is entered by adding init=/bin/bash or single parameters at startup. 1. Enter maintenance mode: Edit the GRUB menu and add startup parameters. 2. Remount the file system to read and write mode: mount-oremount,rw/. 3. Repair the file system: Use the fsck command, such as fsck/dev/sda1. 4. Back up the data and operate with caution to avoid data loss.
How Debian improves Hadoop data processing speedApr 13, 2025 am 11:54 AMThis article discusses how to improve Hadoop data processing efficiency on Debian systems. Optimization strategies cover hardware upgrades, operating system parameter adjustments, Hadoop configuration modifications, and the use of efficient algorithms and tools. 1. Hardware resource strengthening ensures that all nodes have consistent hardware configurations, especially paying attention to CPU, memory and network equipment performance. Choosing high-performance hardware components is essential to improve overall processing speed. 2. Operating system tunes file descriptors and network connections: Modify the /etc/security/limits.conf file to increase the upper limit of file descriptors and network connections allowed to be opened at the same time by the system. JVM parameter adjustment: Adjust in hadoop-env.sh file

Syslog is a key service in Linux systems for logging system and application log messages. It helps administrators monitor and analyze system activity to quickly identify and resolve problems. 1. Basic knowledge of Syslog The core functions of Syslog include: centrally collecting and managing log messages; supporting multiple log output formats and target locations (such as files or networks); providing real-time log viewing and filtering functions. 2. Install and configure Syslog (using Rsyslog) The Debian system uses Rsyslog by default. You can install it with the following command: sudoaptupdatesud
How to choose Hadoop version in DebianApr 13, 2025 am 11:48 AMWhen choosing a Hadoop version suitable for Debian system, the following key factors need to be considered: 1. Stability and long-term support: For users who pursue stability and security, it is recommended to choose a Debian stable version, such as Debian11 (Bullseye). This version has been fully tested and has a support cycle of up to five years, which can ensure the stable operation of the system. 2. Package update speed: If you need to use the latest Hadoop features and features, you can consider Debian's unstable version (Sid). However, it should be noted that unstable versions may have compatibility issues and stability risks. 3. Community support and resources: Debian has huge community support, which can provide rich documentation and
