Action

Since I have learned some knowledge about Three.js before, I am quite familiar with the display after having the model, so the most troublesome part is modeling. Because we need to put a 3-dimensional thing into the computer. For 2-dimensional objects, if you want to put them on the computer, we all know that it is very simple, just use the camera to take a picture, but if you want to view 3-dimensional objects on the computer, it is different. It has one more dimension. The increase did increase exponentially, so I started to consult various materials to see how to build a model of an object.

# I checked a lot of information and wanted to build a shoe model. In summary, there are two models.

1. Photogrammetry: Taking photos and converting them into 3D models through pure algorithms is also called monocular reconstruction in graphics.

But when I chose to use it, I found that it requires a laser radar scanner (LiDAR), which must be iPhone 12 pro or above to use.

In the end, I chose Reality Capture to create the model. It can synthesize a model through multiple pictures. After watching some videos on station b, I felt that its imaging effect was also good, but it only supports windows. And the running memory requires 8g. At this time, I moved out my Windows computer from 7 years ago... I didn't expect it to still be in service, which was also a surprise.

Modeling

I took a total of about 1G of pictures, about 500 pictures (because I didn’t know how to adjust the model in the early stage, I tried a lot of methods.)

Building the application

Follow-up plan

Due to limited time (it took a whole day on the weekend), we still did not get a very perfect model. We will continue to explore the implementation of this in the future, and then we will explore whether an automated method can be realized from shooting. Appendix

The several shooting tips are also provided by the official.

1. Don’t limit the number of images, RealityCapture can handle any picture.

2. Use high-resolution images.

4. Move around the object in a circular manner when taking pictures.

5. The moving angle should not exceed 30 degrees.
