The path in PS is a drawing method. You can draw graphics for keying. You can freely transform the graphics and convert them into selections, or you can convert them into shapes, and then fill them with pictures or colors. I will give a detailed introduction below, and interested friends can learn about it.
"Path" (PATHS) is an important tool in PS. It is mainly used to select smooth image areas and assist cutouts, draw smooth lines, and define Drawing trajectories of tools such as brushes, outputting input paths, and switching between selection areas.
In the auxiliary cutout, it highlights the powerful editability, has a unique smooth curvature attribute, and is more accurate and smoother than the channel.
Paths are outlines that can be converted into selections or filled and stroked with color. You can easily change the shape of a path by editing its anchor points.
Several Ways to Use Paths
Working paths are temporary paths that appear in the Paths panel and are used to define the outline of a shape.
You can use paths in the following ways:
■You can use paths as vector masks to hide layer areas. (See About layers and vector masks.)
■Convert paths to selections. (See Convert a path to a selection boundary.)
■ Fill or stroke a path with color. (See Filling a Path with Color.)
When exporting an image to a page layout or vector editing program, specify the stored path as a clipping path to make part of the image transparent. (See Creating Transparency Using Image Clipping Paths.)
Path Tools
PS provides a set of tools for generating, editing, and setting "paths" , they are located in the toolbox floating panel in the PS software, and their icons are rendered as "pen icons" by default.
Use the left mouse button to click on the icon here and hold it for two seconds. The system will pop up a hidden tool group, mainly including: Pen Tool, Free Pen Tool, Add Anchor Point Tool, Delete Anchor Point Tool, and Convert Point tool.
Path Panel
As an element in plane image processing, path is very important, so like channel layer, PS also provides a dedicated Control Panel: Path Control Panel.
The path control panel is mainly composed of the system button area, the path control panel label area, the path list area, the path tool icon area, and the path control menu area.
Path Tool Icon Area
1. Fill path: Completely fill the inside of the current path with the foreground color.
2. Outline the path: Use the foreground color to outline the boundary along the outer contour of the path.
3. Convert a path to a selection: Convert the currently selected path into a selection area that we use to define the processing range when processing images
4. Convert a selection to a path: Convert the selection area Convert to path.
5. New path layer tool: used to create a new path layer.
6. Delete path layer tool: used to delete a path layer.
