I Got ChatGPT to Roast My Instagram Page, and It Was Glorious

There are so many things you can do with ChatGPT (and the other AI chatbots out there); some good, some bad. But did you know that ChatGPT can be asked to roast you and others (in the comedic sense of the word)?

What Happened When I Asked ChatGPT to Roast My Instagram

The latest online trend doing the rounds is one where you ask ChatGPT to roast your Instagram page in one paragraph. This has you asking ChatGPT to roast your Instagram feed, telling you exactly what it thinks of your curated collection of photos.

The results can be rather unsettling—especially if you're a little thin-skinned or not quite prepared for an AI chatbot to reveal your inner-most insecurities.

After seeing this trend blow up online, I decided to give it a go by taking a screenshot of my Instagram page (@dozydavepee) and asking ChatGPT to assess it in the form of a roast. And I'm glad I did, as not only were the results hilarious, but they also revealed a little of what I'm putting out into the world.

Here's the screenshot, followed by ChatGPT's roast:

"Your Instagram feed looks like it can't decide whether it's an art student's final project or a travel agency's brochure for the most random destinations on Earth. You've got everything from serene canals and misty countryside, to a terrifyingly red-lit rave that looks like it belongs in a zombie apocalypse. The transition from scenic landscapes to pubs that probably smell like old beer and desperation is a rollercoaster of emotions. And what's with that statue of a guy wearing a fish head? Are you trying to make us question the meaning of life, or did you just get lost on your way to a more interesting part of town? Your feed is like a pub crawl that somehow ends at a medieval windmill in Greece."

How to Get ChatGPT to Roast Your Instagram Feed Too

If you're sure you want ChatGPT to roast you in this way, here's how to do it...

  1. Open the Instagram app and click on your profile picture in the bottom-right corner.
  2. Scroll down your profile page until you can see a selection of your photos (you should be able to get 15-18 photos in a screenshot).
  3. Take a screenshot of the portion of your Instagram feed you want ChatGPT to roast.
  4. Open ChatGPT and attach the screenshot alongside the prompt, "Roast my Instagram feed in one paragraph".
  5. ChatGPT will then roast your Instagram feed in spectacular fashion, possibly even getting quite personal.

If you're not happy with the results, you can write another prompt (using these AI prompting tips and tricks for inspiration). Maybe asking ChatGPT to make its assessment funnier or more brutal. Or, if you were slightly annoyed by the initial roast, less harsh.

You could also take a different screenshot capturing a different set of photos and illicit a completely different roast with all-new insults.

You Can Get ChatGPT to Roast Anyone's Instagram Feeds

While the idea here is to have ChatGPT roast your own Instagram page, there's nothing stopping you from asking it to roast anyone else's Instagram photos too. Just click on someone's profile, scroll down their feed, and screenshot the portion you want ChatGPT to assess.

If you share the results with the friend whose Instagram profile you targeted, just be sure to let them know that ChatGPT was the one doing the roasting. Otherwise, they'll think you've suddenly turned very nasty and started doling out personal insults left, right, and center.
