Samsung Galaxy M05 launched as a rebadged Galaxy A05 with updated software

It hasn't been long since Samsung took the wraps off the Galaxy A06, its newest budget smartphone in the Galaxy A series, now it has launched the Galaxy M05 which is based on theGalaxy A05(available on Amazon for $112). The Galaxy M05 arrives almost a year after the Galaxy A05, and that time difference gives the new phone a key advantage.

The Galaxy M05 has a 6.7-inch HD+ (720 x 1600) IPS LCD panel with a notch for the front-facing camera. Considering this is a budget smartphone, the bezels are not the slimmest. Powering the phone is the Mediatek Helio G85, the same chip inside the Galaxy A06. There's 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage along with a microSD card slot for adding up to an additional 1TB of storage.

For the front camera, Samsung has given it an 8MP sensor while the back houses a 50MP main camera and a 2MP depth camera. The phone doesn't have a fingerprint scanner but there's Face Unlock. It does have an audio jack, dual SIM support, Bluetooth 5.3, and 5GHz Wi-Fi.

The Galaxy M05 packs a 5,000mAh battery with support for 25W fast wired charging via USB-C. Unsurprisingly, there's no charger in the box. Since it arrives a year after the Galaxy A05 it is based on, it ships with Android 14 and not Android 13. Samsung has also promised the phone will receive 2 OS upgrades and 4 years of security updates.
