Every character in Elden Ring Nightreign stands out in their own way, and once you unlock Revenant, you might feel drawn to try her out. She’s a highly specialized character offering various kinds of support on the battlefield but comes with numerous weaknesses. With a high FP pool and a knack for incantations and sorceries, she offers plenty of options to dish out damage and healing to the entire group.

Revenant’s Skills

She is a hybrid character capable of focusing on backline support and damage.

This character differs significantly from the rest of the playable cast. She's more of a summoner support type, weaker in one-on-one confrontations, forcing you to stay further back and use your summons as diversions when targeted. First, pay attention to her Passive Skill, Necromancy, which is a potent early-game tool to gain an advantage at the start. This skill brings back foes you've dealt the finishing blow to. These phantoms are short-lived and disappear after one minute, unaffected by your final art, but can coexist with your Summoned Spirits on the field.

Summoned Spirits form the core of Revenant’s abilities. They provide battlefield support in various ways. When targeted by a boss or mob, you can summon Helen, Frederick, or Sebastian for some assistance to divert their focus. If a party member falls nearby, you can summon one of them to help revive your teammate. However, apart from these moments of support, these summons don't contribute much more during boss fights. They are relatively weak and gain additional moves when they're on the field as you use your Final Art, but they aren't designed to overpower a boss.

Immortal March, Revenant’s Final Art, is a strong support move. Unfortunately, it's best used sparingly, as overusing it might render it ineffective. The ability itself doesn't deal much damage later in expeditions, so you'll want to reserve it for when allies fall or when you're surrounded by smaller enemies. Your summoned spirits will gain bonus attacks and become temporarily invincible. However, they can still take damage and can't fall below 1 HP. Using your final art to buff your summons isn't ideal in boss fights, but reviving downed allies is always beneficial.

Weapon Preference

With extremely high Faith and Arcane stats, you’ll want to focus on using spells.

The optimal setup for Revenant during expeditions would involve weapons with high Faith or Arcane scaling. These include her default Cursed Claws weapon or the Cipher Pata and Clinging Bone weapons. However, Revenant isn’t very effective up close with dangerous foes due to her extremely low health stats. Instead, consider equipping a variety of staff spells in your main hand and a mix of seals in your off-hand for incantations. Having a Great Shield in your off-hand arsenal will also offer some defense if you find yourself in danger.

While she can engage in melee combat, you’ll usually be in too much danger and could be instantly defeated by a boss. Engaging in full offense against powerful enemies is risky, and prioritizing safety is essential to continue providing support to your allies. Another consideration when preparing for expedition ends is collecting as many Starlight Shards as possible. Despite being a caster similar to Recluse, she cannot regenerate her FP during combat and will rely on Starlight Shards to sustain her powerful spells.

Preferred Amulets and Trinkets

Focus on finding amulets that enhance FP management.

When searching for the perfect amulet setup during a run, you’ll want ones that boost your FP. These can include the Primal Glintstone Blade, which reduces spell FP costs at the expense of lowering your maximum HP by 15%. Given her already low health, this won’t hinder her much, as she’ll likely go down quickly when hit. You’ll want to maximize your spell casting. The Godfrey Icon increases the attack power of charged spells and skills, boosting the damage of those larger spells that inflict significant harm.

Finding reliable good trinkets can be challenging, as many of these randomized stat bonuses don’t align with her playstyle. Discovering one to enhance her Final Art for extra damage is always beneficial—it adds a bit more damage to a boss while speeding up the revival of downed allies. Using trinkets to improve specific incantations and spells will be crucial, making any you find on expeditions more potent. Including some to raise your maximum FP will also be a smart choice; you’ll want as many combinations of these as possible to gain an edge in battle.

Revenant is strong in certain aspects yet weak in many others. While she can deliver backline damage and support to the party, she’s extremely vulnerable when forced into aggressive offense or defense. When playing as her, aim to bring your summons into battle to ensure they attract attention away from you or your party. Constantly casting spells will also make a boss focus on you, and maintaining a good rhythm with your team to cast spells while they manage the most aggro is key to playing her effectively.
