Grounded 2: How To Get The Orb Weaver Buggy

Once the Masked Stranger has been defeated, the entire Grounded 2 backyard becomes yours to explore. With Mix.rs on the loose and ORC Transmitters needing shutdowns, you’ll need a fast and reliable way to move around—preferably something with strong legs, not wheels.

The Orb Weaver mount is a dynamic, high-speed buggy that can traverse nearly every corner of the map in record time. Throw in its aggressive combat features, and it's clear this is a mount worth investing in.

Unlocking The Orb Weaver Buggy

While the Red Ant Soldier comes naturally through the main story, the Orb Weaver can be easy to overlook. You unlock the tech by obtaining the Network Center TURBO Optical Disk, which drops after beating the Masked Stranger located inside the head of the Burgl statue.

Hatching An Orb Weaver

Since you're required to build a Hatchery earlier in the game, you likely already have one. If not, reconstruct it using common materials found throughout nearly every zone of the yard:

• Weed Stem (x6)
• Acorn Top
• Acorn Shell (x5)
• Mite Fuzz (x5)

By this point in the game, you probably have the level two omnitool axe and possibly even a Red Ant Soldier Buggy. These tools make gathering Weed Stems from Hardy Weeds much easier, and your ant can help carry the load.

Constructing The Spider Nest

Though optional, building a Spider Nest is highly recommended for storing your Orb Weaver buggies. It’s a large structure requiring plenty of open space, but it allows you to keep multiple buggies and assign them across players. Gather these materials:

• Weed Stem (x6)
• Pine Needle (x6)
• Web Fiber (x6)
• Silk Rope (x4)

Weed Stems are harvested from dandelions or hardy weeds (the latter needing a level two omnitool axe). Web Fibers come from dead spiders or directly from spider webs. Collect several fibers and spin them into rope at a spinning wheel.

Each rope uses one fiber, so you’ll need ten Web Fibers total—six as raw fibers and four converted into rope.

The trickiest component is Pine Needles, found in Needle Bundles scattered on the ground. These require a level two omnitool axe to collect and are mostly located in the pine forest (top-left of the map) or the dry bricks area cutting through the center. Look carefully under trees, as the bundles blend in with debris.

Gathering Harness Materials

Next, collect the materials for the Orb Weaver’s harness—most of which are readily available:

• Blueberry Leather (x3)
• Red Ant Mandibles (x4)
• Acorn Shell (x3)

For Blueberry Leather, harvest blueberries from the picnic table or the glade near the ice cream stand. Use a level one omnitool axe, then convert the berries into leather at a workbench. Be cautious—these areas are also home to dangerous insects, including spiders, bees, and mosquitos.

Locating An Orb Weaver Egg

The hardest step? Finding an Orb Weaver egg. Like the Red Ant egg, it must be carried manually to the hatchery and can't be stored in your inventory. To make things tougher, the spawn zone is swarming with Orb Weavers.

Eggs are located beneath Burgl’s body. Circle the statue until you spot a tunnel leading underneath. At the center, you’ll find multiple eggs, guarded by spiderlings, Orb Weaver Jrs., and full-grown Orb Weavers.

Using The Orb Weaver Buggy

Compared to the Red Ant Soldier, the Orb Weaver is faster, more agile, and better in combat.

It hits harder and can sprint into enemies, instantly eliminating small pests like Weevils and Mites. While it won’t do much damage to larger foes like Stinkbugs or big spiders, charging through mite swarms is a quick way to clear nuisances.

Additionally, the Orb Weaver can shoot webs to immobilize enemies—perfect for trapping prey or creating distance from aggressive bugs.

Its third ability is Intimidating, where the Orb Weaver unleashes a loud roar that frightens small bugs. However, this move is mostly ineffective—larger enemies you’d want to scare off are actually provoked by the sound instead.

The biggest advantage of the Orb Weaver is web immunity. It can traverse web bridges without slowing down and pass through webs unimpeded. This opens up new routes—like scaling Burgl, climbing the Lectern, or scaling the Hot Dog Stand.

Still, there are trade-offs. The Orb Weaver can’t cut or carry grass, making it far less useful than the ant for base-building.

Also, unlike the Red Ant—which makes all ants friendly—riding the Orb Weaver doesn’t stop spiders from attacking. So if you were counting on safety from one of the park’s biggest threats, think again.
