php - 網頁若要可透過即時通知，是否只能通過郵件？

因沒有涉略app 只有碰過web
想做一個手機也能收到即時通知的效果，但據我所知只能在app上實踐
唯一作法是使用phpmailer(我使用php)將通知郵件發送給客戶端，但前提是客戶端的手機必須開啟電郵通知..這樣手機上才會有notification
想請問這是否是目前唯一的方式?
有辦法就算是web，也能夠有即時效用?
例如: app例如wechat有新訊息來，客戶端當下馬上就能收到notification通知
那web呢? 除了透過phpmailer或其他郵件發送系統外，還有方式可以做到嗎?

  1. websocket.

  2. ajax polling.

在前websocket时代，一般都是通过ajax polling来实现的动态notification功能。
