In June, Microsoft first rolled out a preview version of Windows Copilot to Windows Insiders in the Dev Channel. Today, Microsoft announced that it is extending the availability of Windows Copilot to Windows 11 Insiders in the Beta channel. Microsoft just started rolling out Windows Copilot to Beta Channel Insiders today, so not all Insiders in the Beta Channel will have access to the experience. Based on feedback, Microsoft will roll out this feature to all Windows 11 Insiders. Microsoft also mentioned that Windows Insider logins in the Beta channel and managed by Azure AD (soon to be Entra ID) will see Windows Copilot in future flights.

In its current state, the functionality of Windows Copilot is severely limited. You will be able to ask questions and/or request the following tasks:

  • "Switch to dark mode."
  • "Turn on Do Not Disturb."
  • "Screenshot "
  • "Summarize this site" (Activity tab in Microsoft Edge)
  • "Write a story about a dog that lived on the moon.
  • "Give I took a picture of a peaceful koi pond with lily pads. ”

Additionally, third-party plug-in support is not yet available on Windows Copilot.

To try out Copilot, be sure to run Windows 11 Insider Preview 22631.2129 in the Beta channel or later, and Microsoft Edge version 115.0.1901.150 or later.

You can use the Win C keyboard shortcut or click New in the taskbar Copilot logo to launch Copilot. It will appear as a sidebar on the right side of the screen but will not overlap your desktop content, ensuring that you can interact with Copilot at any time.
