Microsoft seems to have renamed the Surface Audio application on iOS and Android for no reason Microsoft Surface.

After launching nearly three years ago, the Surface Audio app has been a loyal companion app for users of Microsoft Surface Headphones and/or Surface Earbuds, allowing users to update their headphones as well as customize settings with the equalizer.

Aggiornamenti Lumia has revealed that the days of Surface Audio are unfortunately coming to an end as Microsoft is now rebranding and pushing users towards the dedicated Microsoft Surface app.

Thankfully, despite the name change, the Microsoft Surface app on iOS and Android appears to do the same thing as the previous Surface Audio app, albeit with a different name, which makes us wonder why First the app needs to be renamed.

To notify users of this name change, and the death of Surface Audio as we know it, Microsoft gave us a handy UX notification that told us to "Use Surface apps to customize Your audio experience with Surface Headphones or Surface Earbuds."

"For the best experience, uninstall the Surface Audio app (no longer supported by Microsoft)," the notification continues.
