Indie developer Casey Liss launched his latest iOS app today, focused on letting you quickly and easily add emojis to images. Called "MaserAid," this app helps you protect your privacy when posting images online—or just add a little fun to them.
Casey announced the new app in a blog post today and detailed the inspiration and development process on this week's episode of the Accidental Tech Podcast. In a blog post, Casey outlines a number of reasons why you might want to hide a face in an image:
One of the cool things about MaskerAid is that it uses machine learning to automatically place emojis in it on any face detected in the image. Of course, you can also manually add and remove emojis and place them where you want. "MaskerAid was designed to be a very specific kind of application: do one thing, do it well, and do it quickly," Casey explained in his blog post.
You may also just want to add an emoji to add interest or make a joke. MaserAid also works for this use case.
MaskerAid is perfect for anywhere adding emojis to any image. Even images without faces often find themselves in need of emojis; perhaps for fun, perhaps to hide something that isn't a face.
MaskerAid is available as a free download on the App Store. The free version of the app limits you to adding only the standard smiley face emoji, while a one-time $3 in-app purchase unlocks them all. As Casey said, MaskerAid has a clear purpose and does it well. Well worth downloading.
