The global smartphone market revenue exceeded $448 billion in 2021, according to the latest research from Counterpoint’s Market Monitor Service. It grew 7% year-over-year and 20% quarter-on-quarter, even as component shortages and COVID-19 restrictions continued to disrupt global supply chains.
Smartphone average selling price (ASP) increased 12% year over year to $322, primarily due to a higher share of 5G smartphones with significantly higher ASPs than 4G models, as well as Apple's successful launch of iPhone 13 devices.
Thanks to high demand and an ASP of $825, Apple accounts for 44% of total global smartphone revenue.
