What is the use of radeon image sharpening?

Image sharpening is to compensate for the outline of the image, enhance the edges of the image and the grayscale jump parts, making the image clear and divided into spatial domains. processing and frequency domain processing.

Image sharpening is to highlight the edges, contours, or characteristics of certain linear target features on the image. This filtering method improves the contrast between the edge of the ground object and the surrounding pixels, so it is also called edge enhancement.

Image sharpening is one of the new features offered by AMD’s latest Navi GPUs, the Radeon RX 5700 and RX 5700 XT.

What is Radeon Image Sharpening?

This is a post-processing sharpening feature that AMD says results in virtually no performance penalty. Theoretically, you turn it on and the entire game's visuals improve in clarity. But as we observed with Geforce’s DLSS, manufacturer claims don’t always reflect reality.

Image sharpening has two key use cases: The first is "soft" gaming. Many games today use temporary anti-aliasing (TAA), which often results in blurry presentation. RADEON Image Sharpening (RIS) is a way to sharpen these games and get a clearer image.

The second use case is resolution downsampling. For example, if you have a 4K monitor but want better performance, you can run the game at 1800P or 80% resolution. This will inevitably make the image softer since it is not rendered at native resolution.

Radeon Image Sharpening can post-process images to add a bit of sharpness and bring them closer to native images with almost no performance penalty. In a sense, this is similar to Nvidia's attempt at DLSS, and the two will be compared later.

Radeon image sharpening technology is comparable to Nvidia's DLSS technology, and generally has considerable advantages.

AMD delivers on its initial March ‘24 promise to launch FSR 3.1 in Q2 this year. What really sets the 3.1 release apart is the decoupling of the frame generation side from the upscaling one. This allows Nvidia and Intel GPU owners to apply the FSR 3.

Reports indicate that "Hon Hai" has begun the OEM trial production phase of iPhone 14 Pro. That means Apple has completed the design of iPhone 14 Pro and is preparing for the early production stage. Every year, Guo will introduce this year's new products to factories in mid-to-late February, and require OEMs to prepare a bill of materials, build production and testing machines, and establish a quality monitoring process. After the test, the foundry must collect data, make various adjustments to the assembly and production, and then start mass production after repeated verification. Hon Hai is still the leading OEM this year. It is reported that Luxshare failed to obtain new product trial production and mass production service orders (NPI), so it cannot OEM iPhone14Pro and ProMax, and can only OEM iPhone14 basic version.

MacStudio vs. MacPro - Chips and Performance The MacPro is a modular machine, while Apple's M-series Macs are not. MacStudio offers multiple configurations, just like MacPro. Apple's baseline MacStudio features the M1Max chipset with a 10-core CPU, 24-core GPU, and 16-core Neural Engine. The highest-level MacStudio uses the M1 Ultra chip, equipped with a 20-core CPU, 64-core GPU and 32-core neural engine. Apple's baseline Mac Pro comes with 3.5GH

Following the launch of the new Mac Studio equipped with the M1 Ultra chip, AMD today announced the launch of the AMD Radeon PRO W6600X GPU for the existing Intel-based Mac Pro series. The AMD Radeon PRO W6600X GPU is built on AMD's RDNA 2 architecture, which AMD says delivers "stunning visuals and exceptional performance" to the Mac Pro. The GPU supports up to 8GB of GDDR6 video memory and up to 256 GB/s bandwidth. The 32MB last-level data cache integrated on the GPU chip reduces latency and power consumption.
