Donkey Kong Bananza Chip Exchange Guide
By Andrew Hammel | Donkey Kong Bananza
Banandium Chips, commonly called "Chips," can be traded for additional Banandium Gems at exclusive shops across Donkey Kong Bananza—but first, you’ll need to locate a Chip Exchange. These spots are scarce, and the price goes up every time you make a trade at the same location.
Locating Chip Exchanges
The initial Chip Exchange appears in SL200, nestled within the Hilltop Layer. Upon entering, move to the left to discover a group of three shops. The center shop is the Chip Exchange, identifiable by its blue hexagonal symbol with a yellow circular center.
Here, you'll spend 10 Banandium Chips and 100 Gold to receive one Banandium Gem. With each consecutive trade at this same spot, the cost increases. Only the first gem acquired here contributes to the layer’s collectible count. Any further gems go into your shared gem reserve, which you can use to unlock or upgrade skills.
Should you require more gems down the line, simply fast-travel back to SL200. Alternatively, the respec feature allows you to reclaim skill points and redistribute them without needing to gather extra gems.
Earning Banandium Chips
Banandium Chips appear as small white hexagons with a pink shimmer at their core. You can obtain them through several common activities:
- Excavating through dirt and rock
- Breaking open crates
- Defeating foes
- Unlocking hidden underground chests
While Chips don’t drop as frequently as Gold, they’re still plentiful if you stay active and explore thoroughly. Your current Chip count is displayed in the top-right corner of the screen, just beneath your Gold balance.
Quick Summary
Chip Exchanges let you convert surplus Chips and Gold into valuable skill gems, offering an alternate path to power beyond standard collectibles. Use fast travel to return to exchange points efficiently, and keep an eye on escalating trade prices.
