There are many incredible characters to choose from in Marvel Rivals, from iconic Heroes like Spider-Man and Captain America to powerful villains like Magneto and Hela, to complicated morally-neutral figures like Venom or The Punisher. But what if, instead of playing one character, you could play them all?
If you want to truly test the limits of your character knowledge while supporting your team with healing and damage mitigation, there is only one choice: Loki, the God of Mischief. As prince – and prospective ruler – of Asgard, Loki always has a plan to keep himself up and cause trouble for your enemies.
Loki is a Strategist in Marvel Rivals, which means you are responsible for keeping your team alive with healing and utility. But don’t think of yourself as just a heal-bot – Loki can deal significant damage in the right situations and can be very hard for your enemies to pin down.
Keep in mind that Loki is very setup-dependant; you’ll want to think of him like a turret-using character from other games. He is very strong when he’s allowed to fortify a position, but weak when disrupted or forced to fight while moving.

250 HP | ||||
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Difficulty | ????⬛ |
Basic Attack: Mystical Missile |
Loki shoots a projectile that explodes on contact, harming enemies and healing allies. Any nearby Illusions will also shoot at the same target, drastically increasing Loki’s damage and healing if multiple Illusions can hit the target. |
---|---|
Deception |
Loki turns invisible, slowly healing himself and leaving an Illusion in his place. You can reload and use both Doppelganger and Devious Exchange without ending the invisibility. |
Doppelganger |
Creates an Illusion in the target space. Loki can charge up to two stacks of Doppelganger at a time, but creating more than two Illusions with this ability causes the oldest Illusion to disappear. |
Regeneration Domain |
Loki summons a glowing Rune Stone at his current location, creating a field that heals nearby allies and turns incoming damage into healing. The Rune Stones can be targeted and destroyed by enemies. All your active Illusions will create separate Rune Stones. |
Devious Exchange |
Loki swaps places with the chosen Illusion. If you are not aiming at a specific Illusion, you will swap places with the closest one. |
Passive: Backstab |
When Loki uses his Melee attack on an enemy that is facing away from him, it deals slightly more damage. |
Ultimate: God of Mischief |
Loki shapeshifts into the form of a chosen ally or enemy, gaining all their abilities (with the exception of Team-Ups) and with their Ultimate fully charged. |
Team-Up (Hela): Laufeyson Reborn |
If Hela is on your team, she empowers her brother. If Hela lands the final hit on an enemy while Loki is waiting to respawn, he instantly respawns at the location where he died. If Loki is still alive, he gains Bonus Health instead. |
Loki’s abilities may seem simple on the surface, but combining them to maximum effect will require practice and planning. Whenever possible, you’ll want to have at least two Illusions active, with all of them having a line of sight on where your enemies are likely to attack from.
Your Illusions have the same amount of health you do, so you can also hide behind them for temporary cover. They also act as your only mobility option via Devious Exchange, so it often pays to have an Illusion on high ground or in a hidden corner where you could safely escape to.
Loki works well in a variety of teams but may struggle to keep up with hyper-aggressive, fast-moving characters like Spider-Man, Black Panther, and Venom. This is partly because of his own lack of mobility, but also because Loki’s heals are projectile attacks, making it harder to hit (and therefore heal) fast-moving targets.
To make the best use of Loki's Ultimate Ability, you’ll need a basic knowledge of what every other character’s Ultimate does. Use the Practice Range to familiarize yourself with the Ultimates of common characters such as The Punisher, Mantis, and Magneto to learn what they do, and you’ll be able to turn the tide with a sudden burst of damage (or healing, if you picked a Strategist like Mantis).
