Dragon Quest 3 Remake: How To Change Time Of Day

There are a few different ways to progress time in the Dragon Quest 3 Remake, though most of them are not going to be available at the beginning. Most of these different ways come with a different cost, whether that cost is gold, MP, or something else entirely.

Sleeping At An Inn (Or At Home)

The first way to pass time is the way you'll be doing it from the very beginning: resting. This can be done at an Inn for varying costs depending on where in the world the Inn is located, or it can be done at home, in your Mother's house, for free.

When resting at an Inn, you'll have the option to wait for a set amount of time. If you're not simply looking to restore your characters to full health and MP, you can wait until stay overnight, or rest until a set time, either dawn, noon, dusk, or night.

How To Use The Night Light

If you're looking to set it to night specifically and don't have any need to restore your characters' health or MP, then the Night Light is going to be the item for the job. You have to be on the World Map to use the Night Light, but when you do, it immediately blankets the world in the darkness of evening.

The Night Light costs nothing to use, but it is an item you'll have to find. Potential Spoiler Below:

The Night Light is obtained in the village Theddon, which is on the southwest section of the map, south of the mountain range and desert, directly south of Ibis. The Night Light is located on the second floor of the shop on the south side of the village, in a chest.

How To Use The Tick-Tock Spell

There is a spell that can change the time of day, as well, called Tick-Tock. Once you've got either a Mage or a Sage to level 25, you'll have access to Tick-Tock, and it's a very convenient way to flip the time of day, provided you have 12 MP to cast it.

Spend Some Time Grinding

The last way to change the time of day is the old-fashioned way: you could just wait it out. There's always a benefit to grinding in Dragon Quest 3 Remake, so it can't hurt to just wander around the World Map, fight some monsters, and get some gold and XP. Before you know it, it'll be the time you've been waiting for, and you can resume what you were doing in the first place.
