HP EliteBook Ultra G1q: More affordable version with Qualcomm Snapdragon X Plus 8 core & brighter screen launches

The HP EliteBook Ultra G1q has been among the first business laptops with Qualcomm's Snapdragon X Elite platform when it first launched in June. Being an enterprise first device, the EliteBook was quite expensive, with the model we tested starting at around $1,700.

At HP's Imagine event, the American PC giant is now expanding the price range of the thin and light business laptop. The 14-inch notebook is launching with Qualcomm's new Snapdragon X Plus 8 core version that was first announced at IFA. This new option will make the ARM device more affordable for more customers. Different from the X Elite model, the 8 core CPU version will only be available with 16 GB of RAM, so customers who need more RAM will have to spend more for the X Elite version.

With the update, HP also launches a new screen option for the EliteBook Ultra. So far, the laptop with the dark blue metal chassis had been stuck with a relatively dim 300 cd/m² screen. This original LCD option will continue to be available, but HP will now also offer a brighter 400 cd/m² panel. Except for the different screen brightness, the specs of the screens are identical - 2.2K resolution (2,240 x 1,400), 100 % sRGB and a glossy touch surface.
