Fitbit users flag issues after changes made to popular feature

Fitbit has recently made several changes to its app. As we reported last week, the design of the Heart rate section of the app has been refreshed. This appears to have been received more positively than the Sleep section redesign, which arrived earlier in the year. However, customers have reported issues with other newer changes.

Several weeks ago, there were alterations to the Fitbit Readiness score, a metric which helps users to determine how much activity they should undertake each day. With the launch of the Pixel Watch 3, the tool was made available to all users, having previously been only available to Premium subscribers. Plus, the Readiness score was said to be improved with a new algorithm. Due to the new algorithm, users appear to have to wait for seven days to get their next Readiness score post-update. However, some customers report that the calibration period seems to be stuck as the seven-day mark, persisting after a week had passed. Others report that their data disappeared for a while, and when it reappeared the historical measurements were different, presumably changed in line with the new algorithm. Fitbit has not officially acknowledged these issues or indicated how or when they will be resolved.

Another user on Reddit flagged that a chart which shows the variation in your skin temperature while sleeping was now a Premium feature. However, we spoke to Fitbit about this, and the company indicated that this graph had always been behind the payment wall. While they cannot view the sleeping skin temperature chart, non-premium users can still view their skin temperature range for each of the last seven days.
