One of the major reason why you procrastinate to learn and grow stems from a lack of perceived importance in our goals. When we don't truly value something, it's easy to delay or avoid it. To overcome this, we must prioritize our goals and make them a top priority.
For me, making web development a central focus in my life has been instrumental in overcoming procrastination. I've dedicated at least seven hours daily to studying, and I've even found myself dreaming about code. This level of commitment is possible because I've made this goal a top priority.
One of the primary reasons we procrastinate is that we set other alternatives as priorities.
If you're struggling with procrastination, ask yourself: "On a scale of 1 to 10, how important is this goal?" If your answer is anything less than 8, it's likely that you'll continue to procrastinate. To overcome this, you need to elevate the importance of your study goal in your life.
Attach a strong "Why" to your goal. This reason will be the driving force that helps you keep trying and not give up.
I am a big culprit as I have always been putting off learning to code. Why? I had other options. I had a job as an AirBnB property manager and host and I was earning a fair income from it. So there was no urgency.
Remember, while I made significant changes like quitting my job, this isn't necessary for everyone. I made the decision because I had the means, less responsibility (single), and had the means- had accumulate savings that I figured will take me until I figure it out. I saw this as the only way to fully commit myself.
The key is to prioritize your goal and find a way to make it a central focus in your life. Push that goal to the top and give it the strongest reason possible why you must achieve it.
When you do this, other tools and strategies will be more effective in boosting your productivity.
