Klipsch unveils Flexus Core 300 flagship soundbar with 8K support, 12 speakers and room correction
Klipsch unveils Flexus Core 300 flagship soundbar with 8K support, 12 speakers and room correction

The Klipsch Flexus Core 300 is the top model in the series and is positioned above the already available Flexus Core 200 in the company's soundbar line-up. According to Klipsch, this is the first soundbar in the world whose sound can be adapted to the respective room using Dirac Live. This is said to be more effective than the room correction of other competing devices currently on the market, but the setup is also more complex.
Instead of simply selecting the corresponding option in the corresponding app, the microphone supplied must be placed at various positions in the room in order to accurately assess the acoustic characteristics of the surroundings. Klipsch installs a total of twelve speakers in a 5.1.2 configuration, including four front-facing, two upward-facing and two side-facing 57 millimeter drivers. Four 100 millimeter woofers are intended to deliver powerful bass, while a centrally positioned tweeter promises clear dialog.

The electronics are supplied by AV receiver specialist Onkyo and are said to be cutting edge. For example, the soundbar has HDMI 2.1 connections with eARC support, which allow 8K sources to be connected to a TV. An additional subwoofer can be connected via an RCA cable. Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.3 and the associated smartphone app allow the soundbar to be used with music streaming services.
Price and availability
The Klipsch Flexus Core 300 is expected to be launched in winter for a recommended retail price of $999, with a matching subwoofer available for $499. Information on a possible international launch and prices in other currencies is still pending.
