Last week, developers of the ShadPS4 PlayStation 4 emulator successfully got Bloodbone up and running on P, an important milestone for the beloved FromSoftware title that Sony absolutely refuses to remaster for some reason. While its performance is less than ideal, a playable build is now closer than ever. Meanwhile, YouTuber Deck Wizard now has it up and running on their Steam Deck.
As you can see in the video attached below, Bloodborne's starting area/hub, The Hunter's Dream, looks fine for the most part, with the few odd textures here and there. The game even runs at a steady 30 FPS like it did on the original PlayStation 4 version. However, things get progressively worse as you progress into the game's first area, Old Yharnam. Even the introductory area with the first werewolf fight is a mess and borderline unplayable due to missing assets.
That said, modders are hard at work cobbling together a multitude of fixes for Bloodborne's emulated version. For example, the 'Bloodborne FPS Boost (and other fixes)' mod made by Fromsoftserve brings forth many improvements, but only for certain areas of the game. There are plenty of others to choose from on Nexusmods, and you should definitely check them out.
