DJI Air 3S shows itself in new leaks with rumoured camera upgrades detailed

It seems that DJI has multiple drone releases planned for late summer and early autumn 2024. While the focus of leakers has shifted towards the Neo in recent weeks, early evidence suggested that DJI was also working on an Air 3 (curr. $1,549.99 on Amazon) successor called the Air 3S. Conversely, less is currently known about the Mavic 4, another of DJI's unreleased drones that surfaced earlier this summer.

Now, established drone leakers like @Quadro_news and @OsitaLV have shared new images of the Air 3S. As far as we can tell, these are of Air 3S retail units rather than internal prototypes. Consequently, it would appear that DJI is close to refreshing its Air series after last year'sAir 3release.

Additionally, one image appears to reveal a few camera hardware details, albeit not of the sensors themselves. Instead, the Air 3S is rumoured to support 14 exposure values (EV) f-stops aimed at extending dynamic range and being flexible enough to film sunsets. Moreover, the Air 3S should be capable of capturing panoramic shots at up to 13,000 x 6,500 pixels.

However, the Air 3S will contain 24 mm primary and 70 mm telephoto cameras, the focal lengths of which are unchanged from the Air 3. Given that hands-on photos of the Air 3S have now started appearing online, we suspect that technical specifications will soon follow. Unfortunately, an approximate release date still remains unknown at this stage.
