The price of Dogecoin (CRYPTO: DOGE) could be setting up for a final bull run, thanks once again to Elon Musk.

During an interview on Monday, former President Donald Trump revealed that he would be open to offering a cabinet or advisory role to Musk, adding that the Tesla (NASDAQ:TSLA) owner is a “brilliant guy.”

Musk took to X (formerly Twitter) in response to Trump's comments, saying that he is willing to serve.

Unsurprisingly, the price of Dogecoin surged nearly 7% following Musk's comments. In fact, DOGE could be emerging as the best crypto to buy now if the odds of a Trump victory take a turn for the better.

Smart-money investors are also keeping a close eye on newer doge-themed tokens, such as PlayDoge, due to their low-cap status and high return potential.

However, Monday's exchange marks the first time that both men have confirmed the speculation publicly, with Musk acknowledging his desire to join the Trump administration.

The billionaire also didn't miss this opportunity to showcase his support for Dogecoin, saying that the Department of Government Efficiency — or DOGE, for short — would be perfect for him.

In response, the price of DOGE soared over 7%, which may seem lackluster at first glance. However, this is largely because the race for the White House is currently a dead heat, with both candidates tied on Polymarket.

Considering that the Republican was trailing by as much as 10 points last week, he has staged a remarkable comeback. Meanwhile, third-party candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr appears poised to suspend his campaign and endorse Trump publicly.

As the former President's odds surge, the price of Dogecoin could be set to explode as well.

As such, experts remain bullish on DOGE in the long term, projecting that it could see a 10x growth to reach $1 in the coming months. Indeed, the top meme coin has replicated a consolidatory price action similar to 2020 in the lead-up to its bull run.

Smart-money investors being bullish on low-cap tokens, such as PlayDoge, shouldn't come as a surprise.
