[CNMO Technology News] In the global mobile phone market, Samsung ranks first in sales all year round, and is occasionally overtaken by Apple in individual quarters. Among China's major mobile phone manufacturers, Xiaomi's global sales have been leading all year round, ranking third in the world, second only to Samsung and Apple. It is also nicknamed by many netizens as the "third in ten thousand years". However, the latest data shows that the market share gap between Xiaomi mobile phones and Apple mobile phones is constantly narrowing.
On July 16, market research firm Canalys released the Global Smartphone Market Report for the Second Quarter of 2024. The report shows that the global smartphone market has grown for three consecutive quarters, with shipments increasing 12% year-on-year to 288 million units.
Market share distribution:
- Samsung: 18%
- Apple: 16%
- Xiaomi: 15%
It is worth noting that Samsung’s market share has declined significantly compared with the second quarter of 2023, Xiaomi's market share has increased significantly, approaching Apple.
- Apple mobile phone sales: 45.2 million units, market share: 15.6%
- Xiaomi mobile phone sales: 42.3 million units, market share: 14.8%

But since new iPhones are usually released in the third quarter, Xiaomi is less likely to surpass Apple this year.
