The Ton Application Chain (TAC) and Polygon Labs announced a partnership to integrate a Layer 2 (L2) solution with the TON ecosystem.

This collaboration aims to introduce Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) functionality on TON, broadening the range of decentralized applications (DApps) available to its users.

The new L2 will feature Polygon CDK and the interoperability protocol Agglayer, enabling the deployment of EVM-compatible DApps on the TAC.

Highlighting the integration's significance, Pavel Altukhov, CEO of TAC, noted its role in bridging the TON and Ethereum ecosystems.

Altukhov further emphasized the potential for reaching a vast user base through applications like Wallet within Telegram, facilitating the implementation of real-world crypto applications.

The integration is expected to bolster DApp integration within Telegram, a renowned messaging platform with a global presence.

With the addition of an EVM-compatible layer, developers can now create and deploy a diverse range of DApps, accessible to Telegram users.

This opens up avenues for innovation, spanning DeFi applications, gaming, and decentralized identity solutions, ultimately driving adoption within the TON ecosystem.

Even prior to this collaboration, the TON network had already achieved a milestone, with daily active addresses on TON surpassing those on Ethereum during June, as reported in a July 6 post by Messari on X.

This surge in activity reflects the growing interest and engagement within the TON community. However, despite the positive momentum, the chain's ecosystem has not been without challenges.

A rise in phishing attacks has accompanied the recent success. On June 24, SlowMist founder Yu Xian highlighted the concerning prevalence of phishing links, spread through message groups, airdrops, and other deceptive methods, within the Telegram ecosystem.

These heightened phishing risks are particularly concerning for users with anonymous numbers not linked to SIM cards, as these accounts are more vulnerable to being compromised by malicious actors.

As Telegram boasts of approximately 196 million daily active users and 800 million monthly active users as of April, safeguarding user security remains a top priority.
