Hackers apparently made millions of dollars on Friday by using 50 Cent's social media accounts to promote a memecoin called GUNIT.

The scam was shut down before too long, but the damage was already done. Now, 50 is warning his fans to be careful about falling for similar scams in the future.

According to Cointelegraph, the scam began when 50 Cent's Twitter account and website, Thisis50, were hacked. The hackers then used these accounts to promote GUNIT, a memecoin that was created earlier this year.

The scam quickly spread across social media, and many people ended up buying GUNIT. As a result, the price of the memecoin soared by more than 3,000%.

However, the scam was eventually shut down when Twitter locked 50 Cent's account. As of Friday afternoon, his X account and Thisis50.com were still unavailable.

In an Instagram post, 50 Cent thanked Twitter for working quickly to shut down the scam. He also warned his fans to be careful about falling for similar scams in the future.

"My Twitter & Thisis 50.com was hacked I have no association with this Crypto," 50 wrote in the post, which included screenshots of the unfolding events.

"Be careful out there they working together to scam people in different ways , & Twitter worked quickly to lock my account back down."
