News on June 18, according to foreign media reports, Huawei is considering charging a 20% commission on the Hongmeng App Store, which is far lower than Google and Apple.

The report mentioned that Huawei has so far not charged commissions for in-app purchases of non-game apps in the Hongmeng App Store.

For comparison, Apple and Google charge a 30% commission for apps, games, movies or music subscriptions purchased through their app stores.

According to sources, Huawei is discussing a 20% commission with game developers, hoping to reduce commissions to attract developers to make games for its systems.

Currently, some Chinese mobile phone manufacturers charge as high as 50% on in-game purchases for their channel servers.

Statistics show that Hongmeng system’s global share has doubled from 2% to 4%. In the Chinese market, the system's share increased by 17%.

In contrast, Apple iOS fell by four percentage points in China’s smartphone operating system market in the first quarter of 2024.
