As confusing as it may sound, AMD's newest Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 chip has shown up bigtime in leaked benchmarks. In Geekbench's CPU test, it could trade blows with the last-gen Ryzen 9 7945HX, which is impressive for pre-production silicon. Handheld console maker GPD has now put the CPU through some tests, and it passes with flying colours. They were conducted on the company's upcoming GPD Duo laptop.

In Cinebench 2024's single-core test, the Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 scores 124 points, putting it on par with a desktop Ryzen 9 7950X, Intel Core i9-12900K and Core i7-13700K. This highlights the power of its new Zen 5 CPU cores, giving us a rough idea about how the Ryzen 9000 desktop CPUs will perform later this year. In the multi-core test, it nets a respectable score of 1,525 points.

Moving on to graphics, the Ryzen AI 9 HX 370's Radeon 890M GPU scores 4,221 points in 3DMark's Time Spy benchmark. It sits between the Nvidia GeForce RTX 3050 and RTX 2050, which is mighty impressive for an iGPU. That said, Time Spy isn't a particularly taxing benchmark, and the Radeon GPU could lag behind its Nvidia counterparts in more graphics-intensive tests. Nevertheless, this effectively confirms an earlier leak about the Radeon 890M's performance being on par with the RTX 2050.

While these benchmarks scores are nothing short of impressive, one has to treat them with skepticism because they come from a first-party source. Nevertheless, things can only get better for the Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 with subsequent software updates.
