Starfield confirmed to get one more DLC after Shattered Space

At the recent Xbox Games Showcase 2024, Bethesda showed off gameplay footage from Starfield's Shattered Space expansion, but neglected to provide a launch date, stating it would come in "late 2024". In all likelihood, that will be revealed at a dedicated Starfield Direct in the coming weeks. Meanwhile, Todd Howard has confirmed the game will get more downloadable content.

In an interview with YouTuber MrMattyPlays, Howard says Bethesda plans to launch an additional DLC for Starfield next year, and if possible, another one the year after that. In essence, Starfield's will go the Fallout 4 route when it comes to DLC. He adds that Starfield has a dedicated team at Bethesda, tacitly implying the game will be supported for a while.

Howard adds that Shattered Space will ditch Starfield's procedurally-generated levels and launch with a handcrafted map. The entire DLC happens in one city and he likens it to Fallout 4's Far Harbour DLC. This is excellent news as it will eliminate the game's lackluster space travel and hopefully result in fewer loading screens. Plus, Far Harbour was easily one of the best Fallout 4 DLC, and if Shattered Space recreates its magic, Starfield's redemption arc could finally begin.

Those looking forward to a new Fallout game will be disappointed to know that a new game is not due anytime soon. For now, you have to make do with Fallout 76, which to Bethesda's credit, has gotten a lot better over the years. The decision is puzzling, given the success of the Fallout TV show, but understandable, because Bethesda will probably want to get The Elder Scrolls 6 out of the door before anything else.
