Following the new edition of the Leica M6, MiNT is planning a much more affordable and even more compact camera that uses 35 mm film. The Rollei 35AF is a compact camera with a fixed 35 mm f/2.8 wide-angle lens and a chic retro design

The camera has a housing that is mostly made of metal - a first for MiNT. To make analog photography more accessible, the Rollei 35AF not only has an integrated light meter, but also the option of setting the exposure automatically. The camera also supports LiDAR-based autofocus. It is unclear whether the camera also allows full manual control as an option, as no control dials for aperture and shutter speed can be seen, at least in the product images published so far.

Instead, there are only two dials for configuring the camera according to the film inserted: a film advance lever and a shutter release. To rewind the film, there is a switch on the back, right next to the optical viewfinder. So while the design is strongly based on the Rollei 35 S from 1974, the operation is likely to differ significantly from the original, and the lens is also different - a 40 mm lens was used back then. After the Rollei 35AF, an analog camera from Pentax is also planned.

Price and availability

The MiNT Rollei 35AF is expected to come onto the market later this year and will be offered at prices between $600 and $800.
