Canalys: Latin American smartphone market maintains rapid growth, with Q1 growth of 26%

Canalys report shows that in the first quarter of 2024, the Latin American smartphone market continued to boom, with shipments reaching 34.9 million units, a year-on-year increase of 26%. This marks the third consecutive quarter of double-digit growth for the market. Samsung's cost-effective A series devices helped Samsung maintain its leading position, with shipments reaching 11.1 million units, an increase of 6%.

Motorola continued to rank second, with shipments reaching 5.9 million units, a slight increase of 1%. Xiaomi, Transsion and Honor continued to show strong growth, with increases of 45%, 215% and 293% respectively, and shipments reaching 5.3 million, 3.4 million and 2.6 million units respectively, firmly ranking among the top five manufacturers.

Canalys senior consultant Miguel Perez said that Latin America is still dominated by mid-to-low-end devices. In the first quarter of 2024, only 7% of smartphones will be priced at 800. US dollars or above, and up to 82% of smartphones are priced below US$400, so manufacturers need to pay attention.
