Nova Lake-H Enthusiast Laptop CPU Specs Leak: 8P 16E 4LP Configuration

Nova Lake-H Enthusiast Laptop CPU Specs Leak: 8P 16E 4LP ConfigurationIntel’s next generation of laptop processors, Core Ultra “Nova Lake”, is shaping up to be a big step forward in core counts and architecture for notebooks. The high-end Nova Lake-H series will max out with 8 performance cores, 16 efficiency cores, and 4 low-power island E-cores—written as 8P 16E 4LP. That’s a big jump from the current Arrow Lake-H, which tops out at 6P 8E 2LP. Interestingly, while the CPU side is getting a core bump, the integrated graphics are changing in a different way. The top Core Ultra 9 Nova Lake-H chip will switch from the Xe-LPG architecture to Intel’s newer Xe3 “Celestial” GPU architecture, but with only 4 Xe cores in this highest-end CPU configuration. Intel is also planning SKUs with the opposite balance: fewer CPU cores but much stronger graphics. One example is a 4P 8E 4LP CPU paired with a 12 Xe core GPU, which could appeal to users who rely heavily on integrated graphics performance rather than raw CPU muscle.

The architecture still uses Intel’s tile-based design—something we’ve already seen with Meteor Lake and Arrow Lake. For Nova Lake in the mobile space, there will be two compute tile types:

Large compute tile: 8P 16E

Small compute tile: 4P 8E

The low-power island E-cores are part of the SoC tile, not the compute tile. This means they don’t share L3 cache with the main cores, but because the SoC tile includes the memory controller, they have very low latency access to system RAM. This design is intended to keep background and lightweight tasks running efficiently without waking up the main performance cores.

Graphics will also follow a two-tier approach. A large graphics tile will house 12 Xe cores, while a smaller tile will carry 4 Xe cores. Depending on the SKU, Intel can mix and match these compute and graphics tiles to create CPUs that are better balanced for different use cases—some aimed at heavy CPU workloads, others at GPU-heavy scenarios.

The leaked lineup looks like this:

Core Ultra 9: 8P 16E 4LP with 4 Xe cores

Core Ultra 7: 4P 8E 4LP with 12 Xe cores

Core Ultra 5: 4P 8E 4LP with 4 Xe cores

Core Ultra 3: Two versions—4P 4LP 4Xe or 2P 4LP 2Xe

All performance cores in Nova Lake are based on the Coyote Cove architecture, while all efficiency cores, including the LP versions, use the Arctic Wolf design. This means even the smallest SKUs will get the benefits of Intel’s latest core designs.

In short, Nova Lake mobile CPUs are all about flexibility. Intel is creating a platform that can scale from low-power ultrabook chips with modest CPU and GPU specs to high-performance mobile processors with a large number of cores for demanding tasks. The shift to Xe3 “Celestial” graphics, combined with the expanded core counts and new architectures, suggests that both productivity and efficiency should see solid gains over the current Arrow Lake generation.

Feature Nova Lake-H (Top SKU) Arrow Lake-H (Top SKU) Change
Performance Cores (P-cores) 8 (Coyote Cove) 6 (Lion Cove) 2
Efficiency Cores (E-cores) 16 (Arctic Wolf) 8 (Skymont) 8
Low-Power E-cores (LP) 4 (Arctic Wolf) 2 (Skymont) 2
Total Core Count 28 16 12 cores
iGPU Architecture Xe3 “Celestial” Xe-LPG (Arc Alchemist-based) New Gen
Max iGPU Xe Cores 12 (varies by SKU) 8 4 cores (on iGPU-focused SKUs)
iGPU Xe Cores in Top CPU SKU 4 8 -4 cores
Tile Architecture Disaggregated (2 compute tile types: 8P 16E / 4P 8E) Disaggregated (single compute tile config) More flexibility
